Remember the last “how to read while doing yoga” video class we did a few months back? How about the “how to read while doing pilates” video routine we did previously?
Well, if you don’t recall (or if you’re just new around here), I got you! You can check out those past videos right here…
Now, I noticed that everyone really seemed to like those past videos… so, of course, I decided to make another one for you all to enjoy! And, even better… it’s the “cozy cat edition”.
The Full Cozy Yoga “Class”
Join me, fellow yogis and readers alike, to learn how easy it can be to do get some quick reading in while you stretch out with some juicy yoga poses. Or, if you’d prefer, how to get in some yoga stretches while you have a quick read!
This video “class” (and I’m putting class in quotations because it’s really just a guided follow-along; there’s no test or pop quizzes or anything, I promise) will take you through a moderately long yoga flow in which you never have to leave the floor (no standing!). It’s all super slow and beginner-friendly, so experienced yogis and newbies can all join in.
And, as it’s a “cozy” yoga class, you are more than welcome to use blankets and pillows as you follow along. Plus, my cuddly cat, Mía, shows up to join us in our stretching journey.
Cozy Reading Yoga Q&A
Need some tips or advice on how to make this the coziest yoga/reading session you’ve ever had? I got you, too.
What props do I need for cozy yoga?
Listen, you don’t absolutely need any props to join in with the cozy reading yoga class. However, if you’ve got some of the following items just laying around, I encourage you to grab them!
- Bed or couch pillows
- A blanket or two
- A plush towel
- Yoga blocks
You don’t need to grab every item on the list that you have, either. Just one or two items is enough to make sure you’re comfortable. Mainly, the pillows/yoga blocks are good to use for cushioning yourself on the floor, and the blankets/towels are good to keep yourself warm as we stretch.
Should I have some previous experience with yoga before I try reading while doing yoga?
Nope—you don’t need any previous yoga experience to try reading while doing yoga!
Just follow along with the video class above, and you will be taken step-by-step through the whole process. You don’t need to know the names of yoga poses or even how to do them—you’ll be shown everything, and we go slow enough for you to easily follow along.
What is the best weather for a cozy yoga session?
Honestly, you can wrap up in a blanket, grab a book, and have a nice cozy yoga session any time of year, rain or shine. I get it, though–sometimes, the thought of tossing a blanket over your head when it’s over a hundred degrees outside is just… nauseating.
So, I recommend taking on the cozy reading yoga class when it’s cold outside, whether it’s raining, sleeting, or snowing at the same time or not! And, I’ll let you know… I filmed the video class when it was in the negatives (Fahrenheit, that is) out, right after a hefty snowstorm!
If you want to read while doing yoga and it is hot out, though, check out this alternative video class.
Enjoy, fellow readers and yogis!
