Hello, fellow readers and literary enthusiasts! Ready to take a tour of retro Barnes & Noble?
Because, yep, we’re totally going there. And this is so exciting!
So, for those of you who may not know, you can actually “tour” just about any old website with a thing called the Wayback Machine, which is managed by the Internet Archive online. And, with the Wayback Machine, you can see what almost any given website used to look like… including some online bookstores, such as Barnes & Noble.
And so, for the “vlog” below, we’re going to take a look at what Barnes & Noble’s website used to be like, as far back at 1998. Plus, we’ll see what top books were on the shelves during the ’90s and 2000s, many of which we can still get online today!
Now, let’s take a tour of retro Barnes & Noble in the video!
Touring “Retro” Barnes & Noble Online
Now, if you’d like, you can certainly tour the old Barnes & Noble website for yourself with the Wayback Machine here. Remember, though, not all links will work on these old websites (because, essentially, they are just screenshots of old web pages), and so you can’t actually buy anything on the old websites. However, you can totally browse them and see what books used to be super popular, then order any books you’d like elsewhere today!
Additionally, as I mentioned in the video, I am actually an indie author of YA fiction, and one way you can support me in making more videos like this is by checking out some of my books online, too!
My most popular book is actually free in both ebook and audiobook formats, and you can get a copy of it by clicking below! The book is the first in a comedic, adventurous YA series—and it’s often deemed one of the funniest & most sarcastically humorous books out today.

Emma Lenford is truly the unluckiest 17-year-old on the planet. She’s constantly kidnapped, held at gunpoint, and even arrested for things she honestly didn’t even do. She keeps her sense of sarcastic humor, though, through these series of seriously ill-fated situations.
And, if you’d like, you can totally check out all of my indie books, too. Again, reading my books is the best way to support me in making content like the “retro book shopping” series, which I plan to continue making over on my YouTube channel as much as I can!
Plus, stay tuned for more “retro book shop tours”, coming soon, fellow readers!
