Hey, fellow “Barbie girls”!

Today, we have an amazing, full-length (and did we mention FREE?) painting class to share with you. It will take you from sketch to finish in creating a beautiful painting of none other than the classic doll herself… BARBIE!

Barbie-Inspired Painting Class for Beginners

This is a super fun painting and drawing class in which we go from a blank page (or canvas) right to a full Barbie-inspired watercolor painting!

You will learn how to make your own watercolors in class, plus a couple of different watercolor painting techniques to make “splatter” effects. You can use any colors you’d like; I use three versions of pink in the video, plus I use raw umber acrylic paint (although you can certainly use regular black) to do our outlining at the end.

Materials Needed for the Class

To follow along with us in class, make sure you have some simple painting materials on-hand, like…

• Acrylic (or watercolor) paints in pink or white and red
• One paintbrush (any size or shape)
• A mixing palette for watercolors (or shot glasses, solo cups, etc. to mix in)
• A paint mixing tool (such as a spatula, craft/popsicle sticks, or even a butter knife)
• A water cup (for brush cleaning)

For our outlining (at the end of the video), you can choose whether to use black or dark acrylic paint, a marker, or even another color of acrylic paint. See the video for more details on this.
