Hello, fellow artists… and happy holidays!

Because, as we all know, the time has come once again to send out your yearly holiday or Christmas cards. Now, you could just buy and send a pack of plain, generic cards… or, you could make and paint your own with me right here, right now!

That’s all thanks to this brand new “DIY” holiday card painting class I’m offering—and just check out the two lovely designs we’re making.

As you can tell, you can make either a classic red truck with a Christmas tree hanging out the tailgate, or you can try your hand at a festive green and red wreath. Or, perhaps, you want to make both—it’s all up to you.

So, join me in the class video below, which will take you step-by-step through making these two cards, from sketch to paint to finish.

Video Class: Learn to Paint These Holiday Cards

You’ll just need a few simple materials to join the class, such as:

• A pencil
• One paint brush (the size doesn’t matter!)
• Something to mix paints with (such as paint spatulas, popsicle sticks, even a butter knife)
• A water cup and towel or napkin (for brush cleaning)
• Acrylic OR watercolor paints in ANY colors, though I use:
  • Red
  • Blue
  • Yellow
  • White
  • Raw umber (or black or brown—again, doesn’t matter!)

As I mention in the video, you can make these cards as many times as you’d like—so, build up a collection or 10 or more to send out! I’ve done this myself with these designs, and I find it’s easy to do the same step on all the cards you’re making at once. For example, sketch your red truck on five separate cards, splatter your backgrounds all at once, then paint the trucks all at once. You’ll get faster the more you make the design, too—promise.
