Enjoy this free painting tutorial on how to make a (quite realistic) ice cream cone! Note that, while the example picture shows a pink cone, you can make your ice cream any color (or “flavor) you’d like.

This class is tailored to beginner painters who have some experience with drawing/sketching. However, even those with little drawing experience can join as the drawing portion of the class is quite slow and can always be replayed as needed.

You’ll also need a few simple materials for this class, such as:

  • A pencil
  • A small round-head paint brush
  • Something to mix paint with (like a paint spatula, butter knife, or even the end of another paintbrush)
  • A blank acrylic paint palette
  • A water cup and towel or napkin
  • Paints (acrylics or watercolors) in various colors

If you enjoy taking this class, you might also enjoy taking some classes from the “Fruits & More” painting course, only offered by Canvas Academy. This full course will teach beginner artists how to paint a variety of fruits and foods in both acrylic and watercolor painting techniques, and it will also cover important topics such as paint blending and even color theory.
