Draw and Paint a Rose with a Shot Glass
Oh, you better believe it, homedogs. Today, we’re learning how to draw and paint a beautifully realistic rose using a shot glass!
Now, listen… if you don’t have a shot glass laying around, I got you. You can use basically anything “shaped” like a shot glass to follow along in this class, like a bottle cap, a button, a lotion bottle cap… basically anything so long as it is fairly small and round. You’ll also want one “larger” and one “smaller” shot glass-shaped item, as I’ll demonstrate in the video. For example, I’ll be using a shot glass and a smaller bottle cap.
You’ll also need a few other materials, such as:
- A ruler
- A pencil
- A small round-head paint brush
- Something to mix paint with (such as a paint spatula, a popsicle stick, etc.)
- Something to mix paint on (a palette or a paper plate)
- Construction paper, painting paper, or a canvas surface
- A water cup and towel or napkin -Paints (acrylics) in the following colors…
- Red (any shade works, including neon)
- Burnt umber, brown, or black
- White
We will be using your shot glasses to draw/sketch out our roses today. This is going to make “free handing it” a lot easier! After that, we will go over how to mix your paint colors correctly with the colors you have available today, and then we will paint using lots of different blending techniques!
