The real neat blog award!

Yay, my first blog award!

award-real-need-blog-375x250

And thanks again to Nicolle @ Stories of a Highly Sensitive Introvert for the nomination!

So, I guess I should start with the questions she’s given me?

Okay, so…

What is your main inspiration as a writer? Which writers inspire you, and why do you write?

Well… honestly, I can draw inspiration from just about anything… from movies and shows to video games to other books and poetry… but, really, my best inspiration always comes from music. I don’t exactly know why, but whenever I listen to a song, I always find myself thinking about the story behind the lyrics. And then I think about how I could incorporate that story into a book or something, or how I could even center a story of my own around that… well, story, and then the rest is history, I suppose.

Pretty much every writer that’s more popular and successful than myself inspires me, honestly, haha. If I have to name some names, though, I’ll pick… Stephan King (for his advice to aspiring authors more than anything), John Green (a fellow Hoosier… although I’m not sure I’ve mentioned being one myself before… but, oh well, now you know), J.K. Rowling (I’ve actually never even liked the Harry Potter series… please don’t slap me… but I think her personal backstory is really inspiring and I really look up to her as both a person and writer), and… Andy Weir (because he got his start in self-publishing online, much like what I’ve been trying to do, and he’s remained insanely humble during the entire time that he’s shot up to the top, which I think is a really great quality for an author to have).

And… why do I write?

I write for a lot of reasons, I guess, but the main one is probably because I have a million stories running through my mind all the time and if I don’t physically pry them out then I  would probably actually go insane. Aside from that, though, I love just sharing stories in general and the feeling I get whenever I know someone has used my work as a way to escape… just whatever problems they could be facing in his/her real life, that’s probably the best feeling anyone could have in the whole world.

But, anyway, that’s how much it took for me to answer just the first question, so get ready for the next six!
What is your favourite scene(s) from a book / movie / comic / any other media?

Ooo, I’m so excited to answer this one.

Okay, so the very first one that comes to mind is the one scene in the movie Coyote Ugly where Violet walks into the place for her first night on the job, takes one look at the girls dancing on the bar, and is instantly terrified. Also, Pour Some Sugar on Me is playing really loud and everyone looks like they’re having an amazing time, plus the girls’ dance looks really awesome, so I really wish I could be, like, transported into that scene and join in or something.

Another one that’s pretty similar and comes to mind is the one scene in Burlesque where that one girl kills the backtrack when Cristina Aguilera (Ali) is supposed to be lip-syncing… and, instead of stopping, she just belts the song out herself from literally no where.

Another good scene that I’ve always liked for whatever reason is from Friends… but, it’s not like a popular one or anything, so you might have to Google it or something if you don’t know it. It’s the one, though, where Ross and Rachel (of course, right?) are at some party… and it’s supposed to be an engagement party or something, because Rachel is pregnant and either her parents or Ross’s parents (I can’t remember which) just assumes they’re engaged when they’re actually not… and then Rachel makes Ross tell everyone “how he proposed”… and then he tells everyone that he took her to the planetarium at his University, and then, written in the stars, it said ‘will you marry me, Rachel?’… and then I actually cried, because it was just so sweet and love Ross and Rachel and I wish someone would propose to me like that one day.

Also… there’s a lot of good ones in the movie The Hot Chick, but I love the one where Jessica (Rob Schneider) is telling April that it’s really ‘her’ on the bleachers… and April uses her pepper spray from her 5 lb. keychain and makes her fall all the way down to the ground.

And I’ll just say one more.

The final scene in Breakfast at Tiffany’s.

And… that’s it.
What is your favourite book genre(s)?

To read… probably anything, I guess, but when I write, my favorite is probably thrillers. I mean, I do love writing funny things and some romantic things or some action things… but, for whatever reason, I always come right back to those thrillers.

How was that for a short answer?
What do you do to get into a writing mood before a writing session?

Pff… nothing. Really, nothing. Maybe I make some hot tea or take a bubble bath to clear my mind or something… or turn on some Shania Twain hits or something, I guess. But, honestly, usually nothing; I just go for it.
Which character (from any media) would you be best friends with?

Um… maybe Phoebe from Friends, I love her personality. Or Joey. Or… maybe just all of the Friends characters.
If you could travel anywhere in the world right now where would you go?

Italy! Florence, Venice, Rome… just all of Italy.
What is one thing you truly regret on a deeply profound level and wish you could change? Or are you at peace with everything?

You know, I wish I could say that I’m at peace with everything in my life right now… but, I’ll be honest, I’m really not. There’s a lot of things I could have probably done different in the past, but, for this blog, I’ll name just one.

I really wish I would have realized how much I actually love writing sooner. And, along with that, that I would have told more people in my life about my writing.

I won’t go any deeper into that, though; we’ll just leave it at that.

And now… who do I nominate?

Dominic Sceski @ The Golden Lands  (even though Nicolle did already nominate you… oh well.)

Kristina Steiner

Mistysbookspace

Bath of Colours

Jasmine @ Singprettyreadbooks

And… that’s probably enough for now!

So, if you were nominated, here are my questions for you!

How often do you write? How much do you write during a writing session?

What are your favorite scenes from any movies, shows, games, ect.? (Yes, I stole that one from Nicolle)

What writers or authors do you look up to/admire?

If you could change any part of anything you’ve ever written… what would you change, or would you decide to not change anything?

What’s your favorite dessert?

What all genres of writing have you experimented with before? Which ones, if there are any, would you like to try in the future?

Do you listen to music while you write? If so, what do you listen to the most or what helps you write the most?

And… bonus question…

Have you ever been or would you ever go skydiving?

So… have fun, you guys!

  1. Jasmine, singprettyreadbooks blog

Thanks for nominating me, my friend! I’m not much of a writer, but I think this could still be a fun tag to do real soon!

I love that you’re inspired by music and then it’s kind like inception when you think of how the same music that inspired you is inspired by something else…*mind explosion…right?* haha!

And I LOVE that scene from Friends too, when Ross and Rachel come up with ways to describe their imaginary wedding. Hilarious and extremely heart-tugging!

    1. Yeah, just go for it, I’m sure you’ll still have fun! And that is weird to think about… now that I can’t stop thinking about it, haha. And YES, Ross and Rachel will forever be my favorite couple! ♡

    1. Yeah, it was a fun little post to do! And I sadly do not live where I can take a train a lot… but, you know what, I probably could write anywhere if I wanted to. I’ve actually pulled my phone out in a lot of public places just to jot down some writing ideas and sometimes even paragraphs at a time!

      1. You sound very efficient writing-wise! I only take out my phone to jot down ideas when I get them, but I write junk without alone time so I leave that for a sit-down writing session at home. 😛
