“A strange girl who hides herself under layers and layers of clothing”… Pt. 2!

Well… here we are again!

I got bored of the usual, lengthy stories I was writing… so, I came back to this prompt that I started a while ago and wrote a part two, just for fun!

Here’s the link to part one if you have absolutely no idea what I’m talking about.

Anyway, I won’t keep y’all waiting. Here’s “A strange girl who hides herself under layers and layers of clothing”, part 2!

___

Michael…” I heard a voice whisper from somewhere near me.

I stopped in my tracks, just a few feet back from the entrance to the Starbucks cafe. I squinted my eyes and glanced over my shoulder, but saw no one around other than the young couple that was stepping off the sidewalk, preparing to cross the street next to me. Just then, though, I felt a scratchy hand grab my chin and pull my head back to center.

And, sure enough, I came face to face with her.

Samantha Pierson.

“Glad I caught you,” she proclaimed, retracting her mitten covered hand from me to push her sunglasses farther up the bridge of her nose. “Come here…”

She stepped around my side, and I turned to watch her make her way around the corner of the building on the left. I paused for a moment, and then followed after her.

“I want you to see something,” she started, turning to face me once more.

After I had the chance to glance around the thin, brick-surrounded alleyway that we now stood in, I looked back at her and stared as she began to remove her left mitten.

Underneath it, of course, though, was a grey, knitted glove.

“You do know it’s sixty degrees outside right now, right?” I couldn’t help but question of her.

“Hush,” she commanded, now proceeding to remove the grey glove from her fingertips as well.

Underneath that one, then, was a blue latex glove.

I resisted a chuckle as she removed that one, and then stared at her naked hand for a long moment.

“Do you see what the blood does to me?” she asked.

I continued to study her fingers, and then shook my head.

“Not really,” I replied.

Her hand was unscarred and her skin was a natural, clear light tone.

She let out a strong, highly forced laugh.

“Of course not!” she yelled.

I raised an eyebrow as she dropped her gloves, reached her clothed hand into my direction, and seized my right wrist. I looked down, then, as she proceeded to pull a closed, silver pocketknife from her pocket with her other.

“Whoa, there,” I spat out while she flipped the blade out of hiding.

“Sh,” she whispered, now bringing the knife to a hover over my wrist.

“What are you doing?” I urged.

As soon as the words left my mouth, I felt the blade edge press itself into my skin. I winced as a tiny red sliver appeared underneath it, and then stared as she flipped my arm over and held out her uncovered hand underneath it.

A mere one drop of my blood fell onto her skin, and then, suddenly, her entire hand turned a bright maroon color.

“Oh, wow…” I mumbled, my eyes locked onto her almost glowing skin in disbelief.

This is what blood does to me,” she stated.

I stared in wonder for another few long seconds, and then glanced back up as she dropped my wrist and shielded her red hand with her other.

“How…” I started, trailing off to search for the right words for a moment. “I mean… what the hell? How is that… possible?”

I squinted my eyes to emphasize my sense of question as she tilted her head slightly to the side.

“That’s just it,” she began, softly. “I don’t really know how; I just…” She stopped and looked down at the ground. “It never happened until I was ten years old.” She glanced back up at me from behind her shades. “I was just playing out back with my brother, you know? Well, when he was my brother…”

She said that yesterday, too.

“And, anyway,” she went on. “He slipped on a roof shingle, and he fell, and he hit his head on this rock, and he started bleeding, and I tried to help him, and then…” She stopped, again, and threw her red hand in front of my face. “This happened!”

I widened my eyes and reached up to touch her oddly tinted skin, but she quickly pulled away.

“I… I still don’t quite…” I started to stammer out, watching her shove the hand into her baggy sweatshirt pocket.

“Nobody does,” she growled.

Just then, though, I flickered my eyes back up to her face, and then I pushed out a quick gasp.

Every inch of exposed skin on her cheekbones, forehead, nose, and chin had suddenly turned the same shade of maroon red.

“Oh, great,” she groaned, now pulling the hood of her sweatshirt over the top of her head. “I gotta go.”

“I…” I started to speak once more, but never actually finished.

“Later, Michael,” she parted as she stepped forward and pushed past my side.

I turned to watch her make her way to the entrance of the alley.

“Samantha, wait!” I yelled out.

I began to hurriedly step after her, but stopped when she halted and turned back around.

“Same time tomorrow,” she ordered. “At the corner of Meridian and Harley.”

I studied her glowing features, and then nodded.

“And you better be there,” she added, just before spinning around and taking off down the sidewalk.

And… that’s it for this update!

Let me know what you think or what you think will/ want to happen next. I haven’t started the next part or even thought about the next events just yet… so, I’m open to ideas and suggestions. I’m just writing this story for fun, so I’m feeling pretty flexible with it!

Until part three, though…
