Song or poem? Guess!

Hey y’all, remember when I tried out a lil’ game I made called “song… or poem???” a few… actually, months ago here? Well, whether you do or don’t, we’re gonna play the guessin’ game again!

It’s simple, really- I just write out two quoted lines of either a (well-known, usually) song or poem, and then you get to guess which it is! Keep score of how many you get right, and then you can post it as a comment! Not that this is a competition or anything, but it’s fun to see who “wins”.

Ready? Okay.

Number 1.

Life is a broken-winged bird

That cannot fly.

Got a guess?

Well, this one is… a…

Poem! An easy one, maybe- it’s from Dream by Langston Hughes.

Okay, here goes two.

Your soul, your soul?

I’ll carry it off like a pretty rich girl

Hm… this one’s gotta be…

Another poem. (Stopped Dead by Sylvia Plath.)

Numero tres!

I’ve loved and I’ve lost

But that’s not what I see

Easy one… right?

This one’s a song- thank u, next by my girl Ariana Grande.

Now… next!

I told my love, I told my love,

I told her all my heart

Ideas?

It’s… a poem- Love’s Secret by William Blake.

Onto another.

I know how much you miss me

I can feel your love for me in your heart.

Oh, another lovey son… I mean po… I mean… song! It’s Shania Twain- Forever and Always.

Next up is…

A poor life this is, full of care,

That we have no time to stand and stare

That’s got to be a poem, right? Because it is; Leisure Poem by another Billy boy… I mean William Henry Davies.

Funny it seems, but by keeping it’s dreams,

it learned to breathe fresh air

Yes, there’s a grammar error in this one… but that doesn’t change what makes this poem great. Oops… did I say poem?

Yep, that was The Rose That Grew From Concrete by Tupac Shakur- someone who also happened to be a certain famous rapper once as well!

Let’s do… two more.

No more to laugh, no more to sing,

I sit alone with sorrow.

Hm… could it be… song?

Nope! It’s yet another poem- A Daughter of Eve by Christina Georgina Rossetti.

Last one, people!

Write my letter

Feel much better

And use my fancy patter on the telephone.

Y’all got a bonus line on that one! So… what is it? Song… or poem???

Hm…

Song for that one! Good Old Fashioned Lover Boy by Queen!

Well, I hope you guys enjoyed playing this little fun game with me. I try to make it difficult to where I wouldn’t be able to guess right if I hadn’t have made the game, but it’s not hard to trick me so it probably wasn’t too bad for everyone else.

Let me know your scores! Oh, and… I may (hopefully) have a surprise in store for everyone here on my blog next week!

Until then, homedogs!
