Remember how last week I made a “two birds, one stone” stab? Well, this week, I’m being literal with it.
Okay, um, not completely literal… I’m not killing any birds.
Just painting one!
So, I think this picture is of a seagull my sister in law snapped a shot of when we were in Alaska together… but, I could be wrong on that.
Either way, though, it’s safe to distinguish as a seagull, and any bird experts out there may feel free to discount me otherwise.
Another funny thing about this piece… well, actually, the first thing wasn’t really funny, I guess… actually, I think it kind of was, but that doesn’t matter.
I could not for the life of me come up with a decent title for this painting, so I asked my dad to just take up the naming duties for me on this one. And then he goes, “Call it… Kayne’s Nest”.
And I actually did!
And, I know this is so weird, but it always pops in my head when I paint photos of living creatures like this that were taken more than a year ago…
This bird could very well be dead by now. It’s probably dead by now.
Eh, actually, I just looked it up, and seagulls live up to 15 years in the wild. So… there’s only about a 50/50 chance that this gull is dead by now!
Morbid thoughts aside, though…
If you’re interested in this piece, know that it IS up for sale on my Etsy right now! And, enjoy 15% off anything you order from me with code BLOG15, if you’d like (which I’m sure you would!).
Let me know what y’all think/thought of Kanye’s Nest!
I think it’s pretty cozy.
