Okay, so I don’t know what or why it is, but watching either the History Channel or Net Geo always makes me have these oddly deep thoughts and/or gives me inspiration for writing when I have none. Again, I don’t get why, it’s probably just a me-thing, but it never fails me. And so… today, I turned on Net Geo.
I’ve been watching this show about mankind, or something, I think, since… like, noon. Has it really taught me anything or have I even really been paying attention the whole time it’s been on? No. Has it given me the urge to think ‘deep’ thoughts and/or given me ideas for writing new stories?
You bet.
So, I found this quote on Google, somehow, the other day. And it goes like…
“Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don’t matter and those who matter don’t mind.”
And it’s by… (guess who!)
…Dr. Seuss!
And, even though this show about the human race has almost nothing to do with that quote… it reminded me of it and got me thinking…
Okay, I’m about to share something a tad personal about myself. I’m at crossroads right now. As in… at this point in my life, I have some major decisions to make. I don’t want to get specific or anything… but it’s a heart vs. head kind of thing to me. And a ‘what I think versus what everyone else tells me I should think’ kind of thing. And, because of all that, I’ve been really feeling this quote lately.
I mean, ‘those who mind don’t matter and those who matter don’t mind’??? For one, that’s a hard sentence to read, so it makes you really think about what it means… but, it also makes you think about what it means.
If you have a big decision to make… or any decision, for that matter, it doesn’t and shouldn’t matter what other people’s input is. Trust me, I know it’s hard to separate what other people say from what your own thoughts are… but, like I always like to say, you do you. You gotta do you.
And, with the second half of that… half of the quote, ‘those who matter don’t mind’… the people who should matter to you shouldn’t care what choice you make; they’re there for the long road home.
And… I don’t have much else to say; I didn’t really have much direction in mind with this post… so, I’m just going to give out some more, related inspirational quotes, some being by people that I personally admire… and some just being whatever I could find on Google.
So, let’s make our brains think even more!
“Life’s short. Anything could happen, and it usually does, so there is no point in sitting around thinking about all the ifs, ands and buts.”
-Amy Winehouse
“Decisions are the hardest thing to make, especially when it is a choice between where you should be and where you want to be.”
-Unknown (…/Google Images)
“It is very important to know who you are. To make decisions. To show who you are.”
-Malala Yousafzai
“I’ve always been me, I guess I know myself. Shakiness, man, I don’t have no time for that.”
-Drake
“Do not take life too seriously. You will never get out of it alive.”
-Elbert Hubbard
“Happiness is not something you postpone for the future; it is something you design for the present.”
-Jim Rohn
“I’m a suck-it-up-and-move-on kind of person. Every day is a new day, and you’ll never be able to find happiness if you don’t move on.”
-Carrie Underwood
And one more…
I hope my quote-spiration served you well today.
Have a good one and be inspired! ♡

I love Dr Seuss’s quote. It’s similar to what my mum once told me and I live by it: You don’t have to explain it to a smart person, and you can’t to a stupid one. Meaning, we shouldn’t waste our breath and energy on people that don’t matter.
