Oh my gosh, you guys, I have another amazing painting to share with you today!
Check it out.
This is “In Blue”.
I love the depth in this picture, like it’s almost 3-dimensional, even if it is on a flat canvas!
And I made that!
The picture I referenced for this painting was (of course) taken by my sister in law. The location, if you’re wondering, was a botanical garden in Michigan. If you want more specifics, I believe it was on Mackinac Island. I wasn’t there, unfortunately, but I got to see all the photos afterward!
The title for this work came from a play-on-words with an exhibition I entered some of my other work in last spring, which was called “In Bloom“.
And, the whole time I was painting this, I kept thinking to myself… you know, this butterfly is probably dead by now…
But, anyway (haha)!
This painting is up for sale on my Etsy site, if you’re interested in it! And, as I’ve been doing the past two weeks, you can get 15% on this and any of my other paintings with coupon code BLOG15.
Comment below with what you think this week!

Even without seeing the original photo, I’d say you did a great job interpreting it!
